Add your own voice
Find the current custom voice options and use a saved voice.
Reviewed
Custom Voice adds a voice from an ElevenLabs share link to your voice choices. You then pick it for a narrator or a character like any other voice.
Good to know:
- This adds an existing voice from the ElevenLabs library. It does not clone your own voice from a recording.
- Added voices join a shared catalog, so other users can see them too. Do not use it for a private voice.
- If you want your own recording used as spoken, choose From audio in Video Story instead. See Use voices, audio, and captions.
Check your allowance
- Open a voice picker that has Custom Voice. Two of them: the narrator voice of a universe you own (on its Your universe page, open Settings, then Narration and audio), and the Voice setting on a saved character.
- The Custom Voice panel shows how many voices you have added and how many your plan allows.
- If your plan does not include imports, or you are at the limit, the panel shows the next step.
Add the voice
- Open the ElevenLabs Voice Library.
- Find the voice and copy its Share link. A voice name or the library homepage is not enough.
- Back in LongStories, open Custom Voice.
- Paste the link into ElevenLabs voice link.
- Select Add voice and wait for the result.
Then pick the voice in the picker for the narrator or the character you want. Adding a voice does not assign it to anyone yet.
Read the result
- Voice added! The voice is saved.
- This voice is already available. The voice was already in the catalog. It does not use one of your import slots.
- The link was rejected. Copy a fresh Share link from the voice's page. Check that it points to the voice, not to the library.
- The voice is unavailable or has extra fees. Some shared voices have extra usage fees and cannot be added. Choose another voice.
- Saved, but the list did not refresh. Refresh the picker before you try again. The import worked.
Check the voice in a video
- Listen to the preview when there is one. It does not test your full script.
- Check names and pronunciation in the generated video.
- For a recurring character, save the voice on the character. Then select that character in each new story. See Use universes and consistent characters.
