Timing is the first thing to get right in a video. A script that runs long gets cut in editing; one that runs short leaves gaps. Knowing the runtime before you record saves hours and keeps you within the length your platform and audience expect.
Pace changes everything. The same 300 words take 2 minutes 30 seconds at a slow, clear tutorial pace and 1 minute 40 seconds at an energetic promo pace.
How the calculator works
It counts the words in your script and divides by the speaking pace in words per minute. Stage directions in square brackets, SSML tags and LongStories speaker tags like @Narrator: are not counted, because nobody reads them aloud. Use the target box to see how many words you need for a given length.
